Salma Hayek: You go to the mecca. If you enjoy the process, it's your dream.

Kasi Lemmons: Once it happens it happens kind of suddenly. People remember.

Hayek: A lot seemed so shockingly absurd.

Lemmons: I read the book. Morgan Freeman, hopefully.

Hayek: How many times do you think I heard this?

•••

Lemmons:  You’d see clothes that you just could not believe people walked out of the house looking like that.

Hayek: The parties, the makeup, the hair.

Lemmons: It’s so depressing.

•••

Hayek: We are sometimes so vicious toward one another. Violence frightens me.

Lemmons: It’s unavoidable. We want you to see it.

•••

Hayek: I wasn’t even me.

Lemmons: I’ve never tried to deliver a message.

Hayek: And you didn't even know what that was yet.

Lemmons: Oh, of course I did.

Hayek: Isn’t it sad?
